Self-Care: Defined & Why Educators Especially Need it.

Hello.  Welcome to Educator Empowerment: Self-Care, Wellness, & Inspiration for YOU!  I’m glad you are here.  I’ve been an educator and yoga teacher for over 18 years. My passion and mission in life is helping people discover how to commit to practices of radical self-care and wellness in our ever changing world.  On a daily basis, I have the privilege of  working with fantastic educators who give endlessly of their time and energy to others.   It is because of this, I have a special place in my heart for helping educators remember the importance of taking care of themselves.

Self-Care is consciously choosing behaviors that help balance the effects of emotional and physical stressors.

Those in education know all too well that the work we do on a daily basis comes with many stressors.  In addition, educators are generally hard working, big-hearted, idealistic people who set incredibly high expectations for themselves. When the gap between our expectations of ourselves and the reality of what we can physically, mentally, or emotionally do becomes too great, we can easily become disheartened and are very at risk for burnout.

Self-care is not overindulgence or selfishness.

It is essential.

It’s the beginning of the school year…a great time to make the commitment to practice self-care regularly. If you need a little extra dose of self-care & wellness inspiration, you are in the right place! I  hope you stop by regularly. I’m here to help you along the way, one deep breath at a time.

Until next time…

Peace, Light, & Deep Breaths,

Mrs. LDK
